Happy New Year to Kidlit Creators: Embrace the Journey!

But wait, where is the Picture Book Opportunities post for January, 2025? The monthly blog posts listing courses, conferences, contests, and other events ended with the post for December, 2024. But, good news!

• The Picture Book Support page still lists resources available all year ’round, as well as events and conferences that occur every year, listed by month. There are also some one-off listings for early in the year.

• Carolyn Frasier keeps an updated listing of KidLit Events for writers of PB through YA. Every Thursday morning she emails subscribers a weekly roundup of those events. Sign up for her KidLit Weekly Email here. 

Meanwhile, I’m wishing everyone in the kidlit creator community the very happiest of New Years! May you create amazing stories, learn a lot, grow in your craft, meet amazing people, and delight your readers–even if, so far, they’re only your critique partners. And if this year doesn’t bring you an agent, contract, or whatever it is you’re hoping for, still, enjoy the journey and the people you meet along the way. Your life, like mine, just may be all the richer for it.
