What’s So Great About The Picture Book Summit?

I love going to conferences and have flown across the country to pursue some of the best. When you factor in airfare, hotels, meals, and transportation, it can leave you with a void in your bank account. While it is worth every penny, I was pretty pumped to see a new kind of conference surface this fall. Picture Book Summit, as it is called, is an online conference. You can cut out all of the travel expenses, participate in your jammies, and surround yourself with tons and tons of chocolate chip cookies. But that’s not what had me drooling.  It was the opportunity to learn from super star authors Mac Barnett, Andrea Davis Pinkney, and Peter Brown!!!

(It was just a plus that I could be covered in crumbs and they would never know. Ha!)

I will gladly learn about the art of writing and illustrating, creative nonfiction, and connecting with my audience from their perspectives.

And then! Workshops by some of the finest leaders in our industry: Katie Davis, Laura Backes, Emma Walton Hamilton, and Julie Hedlund, too? Sign me up, please!

Topics range from word count to the current market to author platform and submissions. In the famous words of Reading Rainbow, “But, you don’t have to take my word for it…”

Registered participant Jodi McKay confirms, “Learning from some of the best while wearing pajamas? Doesn’t get better than that!”

Lynette Loomis says, “I registered to save me months of trials and tribulations as I learn the craft. Hearing from experts is so much more efficient!”

Maureen Bradford adds, “Recently, I took part in The Complete Picture Book Submission System with Julie and Emma and it was excellent. So I am positive this will be all that they have described; Reaching the summit, the highest point imaginable for picture book authors!”

Perhaps you’d like to join us this October 3, 2015? Registration is open and early bird pricing is active until August 9!
